The first time she had to have a partial mastectomy and this time just radiation treatments. This time was easier to handle than the first. Would the radiation treatments work, would they be enough, what kind of scarring and disfigurement would there be? The doctors were great. Treatments went well. I remember putting cream on her after the treatments to help ease the pain. Work can wait and they should understand. If you can afford to take family medical leave and stay home with her, do it. Radiation treatments are like a long x-ray. My wife was lucky and didn’t need chemical therapy, so I cannot talk about those side affects. Treatments are straight forward and for a finite period. I think talking was one thing that helped us through this whole ordeal. Then surgery, treatments, recovery, financial stress, stress on the marriage, kids, family and friends all seem to fall on her shoulders. You will need all your strength to help her, not add more stress to her at this time in the treatment. See also: tired all the time
